What Does Refresh Button Do

The destkop or windows explorer is filled with different shortcut and folder arranged to any order that you already set. They programmed windows so that if there is a change happen to destkop or windows explorer it will auto refresh itself. But sometimes the automatic refresh might not work.

The only circumstances where you need to manually refresh the destkop or windows explorer is :
  • The destkop does not show any files, shortcut, etc that you create
  • The files on the destkop doesn't sort itself to your preferences
  • A bug in destkop where you are unable to use the files
  • Some files do not appear
If you experienced things above, you might need to refresh your destkop manually or just wait for the computer to solve the problem. If your computer doesn't meet the requirement above, refreshing is not required.

Refreshing Destkop Constantly, Is that Good thing?

One of the first thing that most engineer would do if there is some problem with the laptop is refresh it all the way using 'F5' button, at least in my country it is. This habit is the one that caused many people to think that refresh button can solve all thing. And none of them realize that refreshing destkop constantly will slow down your computer.
By refreshing your computer will re-align the shortcut or the files in the destkop, and it requires a bit of processing power, let say that you press 'F5' for a couple of second, the keyboard will send a lot of input to the computer and if you have a low end computer, the processor might not be able to handle all the input that it receive and overheats, and slowed itself, or your 'F5' button might get broken.
